Tiens, tiens !

Kilmarnock Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Youssouf Mulumbu on a deal until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old has sealed a reunion with Steve Clarke after the pair worked together at West Bromwich Albion.

In total Youssouf made 211 appearances for the Baggies and became a firm fans’ favourite during his six seasons at The Hawthorns.

After spending two weeks training with Killie, Youssouf sat down to speak to the official website about becoming Steve Clarke's first signing and his aims for the season.

[Having started his career with Paris Saint Germain, the DR Congo international also spent time with Norwich City.

An international transfer certificate has been received and so Youssouf is available to feature in Sunday's match with Aberdeen.

Everyone at Kilmarnock FC welcomes Youssouf to Rugby Park and wishes him the best of luck during his time here.

Youssouf reste en Ecosse, au Celtic où il a signé pour 2 ans :
YOUSSOUF Mulumbu vowed to do everything possible to please Brendan Rodgers and the Celtic support and said his experience of playing in the Scottish Premiership will allow him to reach his full potential as a Celt.

The 31-year-old Congolese midfielder signed a two-year deal with the Scottish champions today after completing his medical.

Mulumbu spent last season playing under Steve Clarke at Kilmarnock but opted not to renew his contract and remain a free agent.

After putting pen to paper on his contract with Celtic, Mulumbu said his first priority was to show the fans and manager why he was deserving of a place in the team.

“I know the supporters will demand big things from me so I will work hard to make sure I please them,” he said.
“To speak with a manager like Brendan Rodgers who has coached so many great players at big teams was just amazing. I never hesitated for one second to come here. I wanted to assure him and that fans that I’m going to do my best to show all my qualities.”

The former West Brom man said he believed the experience of playing in the Scottish Premiership last season will stand him in good stead to make a valuable contribution at Celtic.

“I know the Scottish league so I have a good understanding on the kind of opponents we will come up against,” said the former PSG youth academy graduate. I work very hard always and I want to help the young lads here.

“I walked on to the pitch when I signed and it felt amazing. These are the reasons we play football. My immediate focus is to stay fit and ready and be 100 percent ready. I’ve played at Celtic Park as the opposition and it’s a special place to play so I’m looking forward to being part of the team and playing there.

“We have so much to achieve. We need to do well in the Europa League, retain all the domestic trophies and continue winning the Glasgow Derbies. It’s amazing to be part of that.

“For me, if I can continue the kind of performances I had at Kilmarnock then, with the quality we have in the Celtic dressing room, hopefully I can help the team.”

Youssouf laisse une bonne impression en Europa League malgré la défaite du Celtic :
Youssouf Mulumbu was a shining light during Celtic's Europa League clash with Red Bull Salzburg in the Europa League.

Celtic received a massive blow in the build-up to their Europa League tie with Red Bull Salzburg with the news that Scott Brown was a major doubt for the game due to injury. And indeed, the Hoops would have to take on the Austrians without their captain.

Brown remains such an important player for Celtic as a leader and obviously, as a midfielder, so not having him against Salzburg appeared to be one of the worst pieces of injury news that Brendan Rodgers could have received before the game.

But the setback provided Youssouf Mulumbu with the stage to prove the Hoops made the right call bringing him on a free transfer in the summer following his departure from Kilmarnock.

Mulumbu's only appearance for the Bhoys before Thursday was the 2-1 defeat to his former club, so he had plenty to prove in Brown's absence.

And while it was a disappointing night for Celtic as they were beaten 3-1, Mulumbu was arguably one of the players who can be particularly happy with his performance.

Mulumbu was excellent in the middle of the park considering that it was only his second appearance. He broke up play superbly and looked extremely composed on the ball as Celtic seemed to suffer by scoring so early thanks to Odsonne Edouard's brilliantly-taken goal.

Celtic's goal sparked Salzburg into life and the home side continued their impressive form by scoring three times after the break to take the points.

It was a result that Rodgers will be hugely frustrated with. But one positive that he can definitely take from the game is that Mulumbu appears to be a fantastic signing that could really make an impact for the Bhoys this season.
