Hull City reportedly close to signing Dieumerci Mbokani
A busy transfer deadline day was predicted for Hull City, and that appears to be coming to fruition. However, despite having been linked with a plethora of talents, it is a new name which has now been thrown into the hat on the final day of the transfer window.
Retired Congolese international Dieumerci Mbokani, who spent last season on-loan in the Premier League with Norwich City, looks set to become Hull's fourth senior summer signing.
Alan Nixon first suggested that the club were close to agreeing a deal for a foreign striker who had previously played in the Premier League.
From there the rumours began to circulate among Hull City fans, but it quickly emerged that Dieumerci Mbokani was the player in question.
It is believed that a deal is likely to be concluded before deadline day draws to a close, although with the reports that Sunderland's pursuit of Jay Rodriguez is now dead, new options could be available to Mike Phalan and Hull City.
Mbokani is contracted to Dynamo Kyiv, who he joined in 2013, and has since scored 19 goals in 45 games for the Ukrainian outfit.
The 6 foot 1 inch Congolese forward scored 7 goals in 29 Premier League games for Norwich last season, although he only started 15 of those games, making it a relatively impressive record.
What's more, Mbokani will give the Tigers a totally new dimension going forward and a genuine 'plan B' that they have lacked for some time.
