Mais l’attaquant du Standard entend décliner sa sélection, à défaut du déplacement, qu’il souhaite mettre à profit pour saluer durant quelques jours sa famille.

Enfin, Eliaquim Mangala a été repris chez les Espoirs français pour disputer, le mardi 2 mars, France-Croatie à Reims, tandis que Rami Gershon rejoindra les espoirs israéliens.

Du côté belge, Axel Witsel, Mehdi Carcela et Steven Defour ont été sélectionnés par Dick Advocaat pour participer, le 3 mars au stade Roi Baudouin, à la rencontre amicale entre la Belgique et la Croatie.
Le capitaine anversois du Standard devrait toutefois décliner sa sélection. C’est que depuis son retour aux affaires, suite à une grave blessure à un orteil du pied droit, le capitaine anversois du Standard a été terriblement sollicité. Le Standard va donc demander à la fédération à ce qu’il puisse faire l’impasse sur cette rencontre, pour soulager son pied meurtri.

New Super Eagles manager, Lars Lagerback is expected to be officially unveiled at a media conference on Wednesday, just before the friendly international against Democratic Republic of Congo in Abuja.

The Swede, according to KickoffNigeria.com, will remain in Abuja to complete negotiations on the final details of his contract and is expected to sign the deal early next week before his midweek unveiling.

The Nigeria Football Federation have proposed three local assistants for him in Austin Eguavoen, Daniel Amokachi and Alloy Agu.

Lagerback has, however, proposed to bring in three of his own backroom staff – one assistant coach, one physical trainer and one scout.

Meanwhile, a top official of the NFF has told KickOffNigeria.com that Lagerback was only offered an initial five-month contract until August because his wages will be paid by the Presidential Task Force, which will cease to exist after that time.

“The PTF will be responsible for the wages of the new coach, and their job will end in August after the World Cup. From that point on, it is the NFF that will take up the responsibility for paying the coach and it will be up to us to decide whether we want to keep him or not, depending on our performance at the World Cup.”

LONDON/STOCKHOLM. Feb 27: Nigeria have passed over the competing claims of Sven-Goran Eriksson, Glenn Hoddle and Bruno Metsu to appoint another Swede in Lars Lagerback as their national team manager for the World Cup finals in South Africa in June.

A spokesman for the NFA said Hoddle and former Senegal boss Metsu had impressed in their interviews but it had been decided to seal a five-month contract with Lagerback. He succeeds luckless Shaibu Amodu who was sacked after the Super Eagles finished 'only' third at the African Nations Cup in Angola last month.

Lagerback, who will see his new team in action in a friendly against DR Congo on Wednesday, began work with the Swedish federation at youth coaching level in 1990. In 1996 he took over the Sweden B team and stayed there until 1998 when Tommy Soderberg promoted him to assistant coach with the senior team.

In 2000, Lagerback became joint manager with Soderberg. They led Sweden to the Euro 2004 quarter-finals before Lagerback, now in sole charge, took Sweden to the second round of the 2006 World Cup and to the Euro 2008 finals. He resigned after failing to qualify Sweden for the 2010 World Cup.

Ah oui, je me rappelle de ce gar. Il était l'un des deux coachs amis de l'équipe nationale suédoise (Soderberg et lagerback) Lors de la Coupe du monde 2002; compétition pendant laquelle ils avaient rencontré le senegal .
