Re: FINALE ALLER HEARTLAND vs TP.MAZEMBE

Re: FINALE ALLER HEARTLAND vs TP.MAZEMBE

Mazembe will be tough, says Heartland captain

Barely three days before the first leg of the CAF Champions League finals between Heartland Football Club of Owerri and Tout Puissant (TP) Mazembe of Congo, Heartland's stand-in-skipper, Ike Thankgod, has admitted the encounter will be a tough one.
Thankgod, who spoke from Nnewi in Anambra State, where the team is currently camped, said, "Mazembe are not going to be easy. In fact, we are expecting them to come out fighting for a win.
"In the group stage they beat us 2-0 in Congo and we beat them by the same score in Nigeria. They will want to stop us from winning, believing that they can finish us off in Congo (the second leg)."
Giving another reason while the encounter is going to be a tough one, the Heartland skipper noted that Mazembe ruthlessly defeated Al Hilal of Sudan 5-2 in the first leg of the semi-finals held at Hilal's home ground.
However, Thankgod who has scored three continental goals from his position in the defence, is optimistic of a victory over the visitors.
"Mazembe may be tough but they will fall. We are beating them by nothing less than two goals. We may even go all out to beat them 4-0 like we did to Pillars."
New referees
Meanwhile, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed a new set of referees for the encounter.
In the announcement which, was made on Tuesday, CAF named Egyptian, Abdel Fatah Essam, as centre referee. Essam will be assisted by his compatriots Hassan Sherif, Mohamed Waleed and Farouk Mohamed as Assistant Referee 1, Assistant Referee 2 and Reserve Referee respectively.
It would be recalled that CAF had earlier appointed South African centre referee, Jerome Damon, and Evariste Mekounde of Cameroun as Assistant Referee 1, with the South African duo of Enock Molefe and Abdul Basit Ebrahim acting as Assistant Referee 2 and Reserve Referee respectively.
CAF, however, retained Togolese Gnofame Zoumarou as Match Commissioner and Djibril Traore of Mali as General Coordinator.
The continental body also named Mohamed Benouza, Abdel Naby Nasser and Mamar Chabane as officials for the second leg schedule for Stade de La Kenya in Lubumbashi, Congo on Saturday, November 7. Benouza, an Algerian, is the centre referee with Egyptian Nasser and Chabane are Assistant Referee 1 and 2 respectively while Mohamed Benaissa of Egypt is the Reserve Referee.
