« L’Egypte a battu le Kenya par 5-0.Contre eux, nous allons souffrir, mais il faut l’accepter. Pour franchir un nouveau palier, c’est le prix à payer », a déclaré Claude Le Roy sur les ondes de Top Congo FM juste après la victoire 4-0 sur les Seychelles dans le cadre des éliminatoires de la CAN 2013. L’équipe a quitté la capitale des Seychelles aujourd’hui à 3heures du matin (Heure de Kinshasa) pour Doha au Qatar où est prévu le match amical contre l’Egypte le vendredi 2 mars. Trésor Mputu, endeuillé, rentre à Kinshasa.
Revenant sur le large succès de son équipe, Claude Le Roy a souligné l’application, le sérieux et le talent des ses joueurs. Pour lui, pour atteindre le statut qu’il souhaite son équipe a encore besoin de quelques joueurs expatriés qui tardent à rejoindre la sélection.

A hastily assembled Kenya Under-23 side were thrashed 5-0 by Egypt in Doha, Qatar on Monday. The Kenyans failed to train for the encounter and were outplayed by the former African champions. Mohammed Saleh put the Pharaohs ahead in the tenth minute beating one defender and curling a beautiful shot into the net past keeper Joel Bataro.

Skipper Ahmed Hassan made it 2-0 from the penalty spot after he was brought down in the box. Bataro kept Kenya in the match denying Hassan twice with point blank saves as the rampant Egyptians threatened to run riot in a dominant first half performance. On resumption things got worse for the Kenyans as defender Anthony Akumu was sent off for bringing down Ahmed Khan in the box and abusing the centre referee. Ahmed Eid scored from the penalty spot to make it 3-0

Kenya regrouped and tried to make inroads into the Egyptian half but North Africans easily dealt with all threats they faced. Ahmed Kairy then bundled the ball home following a cross by Eid to make the scores read 4-0

Ahmed Abd El Zahe scored the fifth after dribbling past two defenders and unleashing a powerful shot from outside the penalty area. Kenya coach James Nandwa said the side paid the price for not training ahead of the encounter. “We did not train for the match and we paid the price. With better preparations we would have been more competitive against the Egyptians,” Nandwa added.

Elsewhere Belgium based Kenya midfielder Ayub Timbe will not play for Harambee Stars in the Africa Cup Of Nations qualifier against Togo today. Timbe was still held up in Belgium and failed to make the flight home. Timbe played for Genk in the 3-0 win over Club Brugge on Sunday

Les Léopards de la RDC, en route pour le Qatar, viennent d'arriver en Transit à Dubaï. Ils livreront un match amical ce vendredi 2 mars à Doha contre les Pharaons d'Egypte.
